How is a plantain like a papaya?
While preparation and eating methods may vary wildly, the ripening process is exactly the same:
Leave it on the counter longer than you think is necessary!
What makes it difficult is when the fruit has been mishandled – that leads to a tendency of bruising and that can make fruit look ripe before it is actually ripe.
Unfortunately, that’s what happened with these plantains.
The flavor is there and no doubt about it, we ate them. but they were more starchy than sweet and that’s somewhat of a travesty.
Plantains are tough. We eat them often but its hard to get it right.
Also Whachoo know about plantains? Yall Va/Carolina folks dont eat those.
