Many notable warriors rule by the Word or the Sword. Reverend Nat Turner is one of those preachers who took the written Word into action.
Luckily, many of the big oppression’s that occurred during the time of Nat Turner (1800-1831) are in the past. We have a lot to be thankful for! Mostly, we can all be thankful for our ancestors.
Who are the ancestors? Those who have lived before we did; they share so many things with us that is taken for granted. Our ancestors walked under the same sun as us. Maybe they also sat under the same trees. We may not know all of them personally but we can honor them even if we do not know their names, including those who have been lost to the seas of time.
Celebrating our ancestors is no different than celebrating ourselves! Everything that is great about your relatives is also greatness that is within you!
You can honor your ancestors at Ancestors day – November 11, 2019
At the Nat Turner Library in Southampton County, Virginia.
